When do you run Beach Fishing Safaris?
We run Beach Fishing Safaris every day of the week (including weekends) except Fridays.
Morning Beach Fishing Safaris run from 3am til 11am (approx).
Evening Beach Fishing Safaris run from 2pm til midnight (approx).
Is there a minimum or maximum number of people?
Yes, for Beach Fishing Safaris, Midwest Safaris and Northwest Safaris there is a minimum of 2 persons and a maximum of 4 persons per trip. You are welcome to book as an individual, and we will do our best to find someone to join you.
For Fishing Lessons there is a minimum of 2 persons and a maximum of 10 persons. Larger groups such as school fishing clinics, kids fishing clinics, and work groups can be catered for with prior notice.
Is there a minimum age?
No, there is no minimum age for participants of Fishing Lessons or Fishing Safaris. We just ask that on Fishing Safaris children under the age of 16 be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
If parents do not wish to attend Fishing Lessons with their children, they may watch from a safe distance.
Perth Fishing Safaris' owner and fishing guide, Robbie Riches, is qualified to work with people of all ages and holds a current working with childrens check.
When do you run Beach Fishing Lessons?
We run Beach Fishing Lessons every day of the week (including weekends) except Fridays.
Beach Fishing Lessons run from 7am til 10am.
When do you run Northwest Rock Fishing Safaris?
We run Northwest Rock Fishing Safaris in summer and in winter. Normally 1 trip in each of the following months: January, June, July and December. For specific dates see our Facebook page or enquire within.
NOTE: Due to the limited number of available seats (max 4 persons per trip) Northwest Rock Fishing Safaris sell out very quickly. If you are interested we recommend you get in touch to register your interest for the next trip.
Am I guaranteed to catch a fish?
While we can't guarantee you'll catch a fish on any of our trips, the likelyhood is high. Robbie will do everything he can to put you onto fish, but at the end of the day it's up to you to hook and successfully land them :)
You'll be glad to know we have never had a trip where we didn't catch a fish, and there has only been a few people who were unlucky not to catch a fish on our trips.
What fish am I likely to catch?
The following is a list of fish you are most likely to catch on our fishing trips in WA:
Fishing Lessons: Whiting, Herring, Blowfish, Tailor, Sting Rays
Perth Evening Fishing: Herring, Tailor, Sharks, Rays, Mulloway (if you are lucky!)
Beach Fishing Safaris: Tailor, Mulloway, Sharks, Shovelnose, Whitespotted Guitarfish, Rays
Midwest Rock and Beach Fishing Safaris: Tailor, Mulloway, Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, Sharks, Shovelnose
Northwest Rock Fishing Safaris: Spanish Mackerel, Tuna, Cobia, Snapper, Spangled Emperor, Mulloway, Rankin Cod, Spanish Flag, Baldchin Groper, Sharks
Can I keep the fish I catch?
Yes you sure can. We do promote catch and release, however it is your decision whether you keep a few for a feed or return them to the water. As long as your fish meet the requirements of WA Fisheries bag and size limits.
Robbie will also fillet your catch for you if you ask nicely :)
Can you fillet the fish for me?
Yes, and 100% happy to do so at your request.
The fish you choose to keep are kept in an icebox on salt ice for absolute premium freshness.
Do I need a fishing licence?
No. There is no requirement for recreational fishing licences when fishing from the shore in WA.
If you wish to fish from a powered boat in WA you are required to hold a Fishing From Boat Licence (RFBL) which cost $35 per year.
Other licences for recreational fishing activities in WA include: Rock Lobster, Abalone, Marron, Net Fishing, and Freshwater Angling. Each of which cost $45 per year.
Licences can be purchased online from the Department of Fisheries website.
When do you run Midwest Rock and Beach Fishing Safaris?
We run Midwest Rock and Beach Fishing Safaris in Autumn and Spring. For specific dates see our Facebook page or enquire within.

What do I need to bring?
Fishing Lessons: Nothing, just turn up in suitable clothing (normally shorts, shirt, hat and bare feet).
Beach Fishing Safaris: The only thing you need to bring is dinner and a change of clothes (in case you get splashed), everything else is supplied.
Midwest and Northwest Safaris: All you need to bring is clothing and bedding, everything else is supplied.
